DURATION OF PHYSICAL RESTRAINT is the duration in minutes of a reported incident of physical restraint of a PATIENT by one or more members of staff in response to aggressive behaviour or resistance to treatment.  Any incident of restraint resulting in the Trust Restraint Policy being invoked should be recorded.  DATE OF PHYSICAL RESTRAINT records the date that this incident took place.

DURATION OF PHYSICAL RESTRAINT is only reported in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Data Set if the DATE OF PHYSICAL RESTRAINT occurred during a Hospital Provider Spell.
