This is a mandatory data element and is a number, sequentially incremented, each time a file is generated for the Mental Health Minimum Data Set submission.

Usage:

For each file submitted the MHMDS CONTROL NUMBER is assigned to provide a unique identity.
Wrap around from 9999999 to 1 must be supported, 0000000 is not acceptable.

This data element is populated by the "MHMDS Assembler" program.
