A Newborn Physical Examination is a Clinical Investigation.

A physical examination of the baby is carried out within 72 hours of birth, using appropriate clinical examination techniques to examine:

• the heart for congenital heart defects (CHD)
• hips for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)
• testes for undescended testes and
• eyes.
