The National Commissioning Group (NCG) is a standing committee of the National Specialised Commissioning Group.
The National Commissioning Group:
- commissions SERVICES on a national basis for a specific group of extremely rare conditions or very unusual treatments and
- advises Ministers on which NHS SERVICES are best commissioned nationally, rather than locally.
The National Commissioning Group is the successor body to the National Specialised Commissioning Advisory Group (NSCAG), which was previously located in the Department of Health.
