WARD CODE is the same as attribute WARD CODE.

For the Commissioning Data Sets and Healthcare Operational Data Flows (Acute) Data Sets, WARD CODE identifies the WARD where ACTIVITY during a Hospital Provider Spell took place.

WARD CODE is an optional item in the Commissioning Data Sets and Healthcare Operational Data Flows (Acute) Data Sets, and is for local use only. However it must NOT contain any text which may identify the PATIENT DIAGNOSIS of the PATIENTS using the WARD (for example, it must not include the acronym 'HIV') or the Patient Procedure being undertaken (for example using the acronym 'TOP' for terminations of pregnancy). Use of such identifiers contravenes the legal requirements for withholding identifiable information about PATIENTS with identified conditions.
