This is a PERSON able to respond to an emergency incident. They will be equipped with a defibrillator and be accountable to the Ambulance Service. This also includes a CARE PROFESSIONAL who is at the location of the incident, equipped with a defibrillator and deemed clinically appropriate to respond by the Ambulance Service.

A First Responder is not a substitute for an Emergency Ambulance response and an Emergency Ambulance response should be dispatched to all calls attended by an approved First Responder unless the Ambulance Service determines the Emergency Ambulance is no longer required and can be cancelled.
