The British Psychological Society is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the United Kingdom. It is a registered charity in the United Kingdom and is charged with overseeing psychology and psychologists. It has responsibility for the development, promotion and application of pure and applied psychology for the public good.

Note: Seven of the above areas of psychology are also regulated by the Health Professions Council. It is necessary to be registered with the Health Professions Council to practise in the UK under any of these titles: Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist, Health Psychologist, Occupational Psychologist and Sport and Exercise Psychologist.
