Background:
The National Joint Registry Data Set collects information on primary Joint Replacement Surgery and revision Joint Replacement Surgery.
The majority of National Joint Registry Data Set items relate to the PATIENT's operation details and are collected in the OPERATING THEATRE.
PATIENTS must give their consent for this data to be recorded on the National Joint Registry Data Entry System (the electronic system for collection and transfer of data).
Note: the consent is for the 'Patient Identifiers' information. Where consent is not given, the operation details are still recorded.
The National Joint Registry Data Set is periodically reviewed to ensure that it takes account of clinical developments and continues to meet the aims of the National Joint Registry. Submission:
The bulk upload facility allows a hospital to collect National Joint Registry data via their own IT system and then transfer it as a block of multiple data records, at regular intervals, to the National Joint Registry database. Bulk upload avoids having to manually input data to the National Joint Registry, and so helps to preserve data quality while saving time.
