The primary purpose of national data sets is to enable the same health information to be generated across the country independent of the ORGANISATION or system that captures it.

In achieving this, the NHS Information Centre for health and social care will be enabling healthcare professionals to measure and compare the delivery and quality of care provided and to support them in sharing information with other health professionals.
