NHS England requires information on NHS-funded SERVICES by providers of Emergency Care. This information is collected via the Emergency Care Weekly Situation Report Data Set.
The Emergency Care Weekly Situation Report Data Set provides essential information for monitoring key standards for Emergency Care Departments.
Reporting
The Emergency Care Weekly Situation Report Data Set is a data return submitted on a weekly basis for the previous week period of starting on Monday and ending on Sunday. The data return must be submitted within two working days following the REPORTING PERIOD END DATE.
The Emergency Care Weekly Situation Report Data Set is a provider-based return. However, data returns are only required from provider ORGANISATIONS where
- emergency admissions are at least 10 per week and/or
- attendances average more than 50 attendances per week.
Independent Sector ORGANISATIONS that provide NHS-funded care are required to provide the Emergency Care Weekly Situation Report Data Set.
The data is entered via Unify2, an online data collection system. Providers enter their data onto Unify2 either directly or by uploading a spreadsheet.
Further guidance is available on the NHS England website, see A&E Waiting Times and Activity.
